Quick Question

What level do you treat a low at? I usually do at 65 during the day, but try to be around 100 at least before bed. I have seen some people treat anything below 90 as low. What do you do?

I usually don't treat for anything above a 3.5 (63-ish) at any time. If it's below a 4.0 (72) then I generally temp my basal down by about 50% for a half an hour, depending on my active insulin and activity level.

Anything below 75 gets sugar!

I treat everything below 80. I feel low in the 70s and it's almost my indicator that I'm dropping. I rarely, if ever, maintain a 75 without going down even further. I just don't feel safe being that close to a real low. I like 90s and 100s, and my target is 120, so I always aim for that. Sometimes I'll even take a swig of orange juice at an 85 if I think I might be dropping.

Olivia treats depending on how she's feeling. If she's 90 and feeling like crap, she'll have juice/glucose tabs. If she's 90 and feeling fine, we leave it alone. I let her tell me how she's feeling and how she wants to treat it when she's between 80 - 100. Anything lower than 80 will get treated.
